 In
continuation of the alcohol theme. On this factory the famous Riga
black balsam is made. Now the factory is Russian, since it is bought
by Russians. One says, that behind the deal stands Boris Abramovich
Berezovsky himself. In general, the production of alcohol, unlike of
anything else, increased. There are a lot of new factories. They work
almost day and night, in two-three shifts. After Latvia has gained its
independence, consumption of alcohol increased in many times. In order
to fight with alcoholism, our government had to go to the final step:
after ten o’clock one can’t buy alcohol in the shops in Latvia.

now let’s find ourselves in the district, where I live. This is
Purvciems, or, kindly - Purchik. The most prestige district, after the
central. There live mostly Russians, the former military people. The
greatest event here for the half past year - opening of a big
Lithuanian supermarket. There is almost all - even live crayfish,
crabs, trout, sturgeon. They swim in big aquariums.
